My mother was born with one of the greenest thumbs around. As soon as she touches a seed it sprouts. I on the other hand – let’s just say I’m happy I was born with brown skin, that way my brown thumb is not so obvious. I love beautiful, lush greenery as much as the next person; I just don’t care to or know how to put in the consistent work it takes to create my own tropical oasis. But I may need to learn, since I see lots of similarities between raising plants and raising children.

As an event planner for an insurance company, I plan at least eight major events a year. That’s in addition to all my little personal get-togethers, weddings, birthday parties, and everything in-between. So, I know good events when I see them. I also know horrible events. The good events make it hard for me to go home. The horrible ones… well, I’m either running out to door to escape the madness or I’m compelled to stay just to see how bad it will get.
